Hey everyone! I’m back again with another complete faceup! This time the lucky girl was none other than Draculaura – the daughter of Dracula himself! Though, to be honest, her new name is Lilian and she looks very different now. From now on I’m expecting these blog posts to be shorter, just because I’m getting into the swing of faceups and as I keep practicing I have less mishaps to share with everyone. I’m sure that will change every so often though, as you can never stop learning and practicing, right?
I had a lot of fun with this one. I started out my Monster High faceup adventure with Clawdeen – now renamed to Sasha – who is a girl with darker skin. It was a whole new experience to switch to a doll with a lighter skin tone! Everything showed up way more vibrantly – but also, my mistakes were way more obvious! Which, if you think about it, is a good thing, because that makes it easier to fix them going forward.
To start out, here is how she looked when I first bought her from good ol’ Goodwill. Frizzy, sticky hair and backwards hands.
The hands were easy to fix, and the hair wasn’t too bad either. Still haven’t really found the trick to getting rid of the stickiness though. So far I have tried washing the hair with dawn dish soap in cold water – It seems like it maybe helps a little bit, but not nearly enough for me to be happy. I’ve heard of the baby powder method but have yet to try it, as I don’t want to risk lightening the hair too much. I might still go for it though eventually. We’ll see. If anyone reading this has any other methods for me to try, please let me know in the comments, as I would like to know!

Ta-da! A lovely new faceup for this girl! Since I’m still just a beginner, I decided to go the route of a more natural look once again. This time I gave her a simple hairstyle too – I chose to go with a french braid. I think it suits her well. I really like how she turned out, but I still have a long ways to go before I hopefully am able to come up with results I think are truly amazing!
Look forward to my next post about my newest doll, Addison! I completed her before I wrote this post. I really like her, and I can definitely tell I’m getting better and I’m also getting more comfortable with the idea of taking risks with colors and shapes and such.
